The IRS is fooling no one...

What they said:

You can expect your refund on April 5th.

No, wait...  April 12th.

No, wait.  We require more information from you.  We will not tell you what we need to know.  Please wait a few weeks for us to send you a letter to tell you how long it will be before we tell you what information we need.  Have a nice day.

What they meant:

We seriously didn't expect all of you adoptive families to send in your tax returns at the first available moment.  We just don't have the money to send refunds to all of you right now.  This is us stalling until after April 15th, when we hopefully will have garnered funds from some of these other fine Americans who actually owe us money.  Have a nice day.

How true that is! I got a similar letter a week or so ago and blogged about my frustration. Here's hoping we get the refund soon! :)
