For those who don't yet know, in November of last year we felt God leading us to adopt again. After much prayer, we turned in an application to adopt a little girl from The People's Republic of China. We chose WACAP to assist us with this adoption and are very grateful that they have been with us every step of the way. The process is complicated and can feel daunting without a good support team.
At the end of January we were matched with our daughter. Kate turned two in August and for now you'll have to take my word for it that she's absolutely beautiful. Once our final approval comes from China nothing will stop me from posting pictures like there's no tomorrow. We are told she is very sweet. She is also reported to be active and outgoing - traits that will serve her well in this house of boys.
We are getting very close to have our dossier ready to leave for China. I received word this morning from our USCIS officer that our I-800A application was approved and mailed yesterday. This is the last missing piece of our dossier and means that the US has approved us to adopt. When our approval comes (hurry USPS!), it will need to make visits to a notary, our Secretary of State and the Chinese Consulate in San Francisco before it will be ready to join the rest of our paperwork for its final journey.
Then we wait some more. WACAP estimates that we will be approved to travel 5-8 months after our dossier is logged-in in China. Needless to say, we are hoping for the shorter end of that time frame. Please pray for Kate. We are so thankful for our recent discovery indicating that she is apparently in foster care. We pray that her foster family is preparing her for the transition that is coming up and that God is preparing her heart as well.
